About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Allergy/Immunology department at Advocate Health. The role involves providing ongoing care to patients, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. The nurse will work Monday to Friday, with typical clinic hours from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and one late day on Mondays until 7:00 p.m. There are no holidays or weekends required, but some travel may be necessary. The nurse will be responsible for triaging patients, preparing them for exams, performing laboratory procedures, administering medications, and providing patient education. The role also includes assisting in staff orientation and maintaining clinic equipment.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months.
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing.
  • No experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Uses the nursing process to provide ongoing care (assess, plan, intervention, and evaluation).
  • Provides triage and consultation to patients, families, and/or significant others according to protocol and organization guidelines.
  • Prepares and rooms the patient for exam by obtaining vital signs and documenting/updating pertinent health information.
  • Performs laboratory procedures using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions.
  • Assists the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries.
  • Administers medications under physician/provider orders.
  • Assesses and provides patient education and counseling.
  • Performs advanced clinical tasks or skills with demonstrated competency.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of staff orientation and educational activities.
  • Organizes and prepares exam rooms, lab, and work areas.
  • Completes routine maintenance and quality monitoring of clinic equipment.
