About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for 2 South- Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit . This is a Full Time, day shift position in Suffolk, VA. Sign on Bonus up to $15,000 available for qualified candidates! Hours: 7AM to 7PM with rotating weekend schedule. The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit at Sentara Obici Hospital provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. 2 South also cares for pre/post catheterization, acute stroke, and post procedural neuro cases. This 25-bed unit sees a ratio of 1:6 with assistance of Patient Care Techs with a ratio of 1:8 on average. The unit cares for patients with acuity higher than a typical medical-surgical unit. 2 South Acute Cardiac is also preparing for a transition to a Cardiac PCU step-down before year's end, making it an exciting opportunity for nurses seeking growth in a dynamic, high-acuity setting. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing.

Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma from an accredited Registered Nursing Program
  • Students in process of completing an accredited nursing program
  • Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nursing License
  • BLS within 90 days of hire
  • Critical Care/IMCU ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • NIH within 1 year of hire

Nice To Haves

  • BSN or MSN preferred
  • Acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Background in Stroke or Telemetry preferred
