About The Position

Full Time Rotating Shift-New Graduate/Soon to graduate RN's welcome to apply! $10K sign on bonus for those with less than 12 months experience $20K sign on bonus for those with greater than 12 months experience This is a 32 bed Spine & Neurovascular Floor focusing on many neurological disorders under four services: Neurosurgery,Orthopedic Spine Surgery, General Neurology, and Stroke Neurology. Some of these diagnoses may be ischemic stroke, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, cervical fusions, lumber fusions, etc. Staffing mix on this floor include the Registered Nurse, Patient Care Technician, and Charge RN all working 12 hours shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a). Nursing team works collaboratively with other services to safely get patients to a safe disposition of home or rehab. Patients on this floor range from being medically ready to be discharged or acutely ill and requiring a longer hospital stay. Some skills learned and utilized here include cardiac rhythm interpretation, neurological assessments, spinal cord assessments, pre-op and post op education, surgical dressing changes, surgical drains, wounds, tracheostomy care etc. Renowned as the academic flagship of the University of Maryland Medical System, our Magnet-designated facility is a nationally recognized, academic medical center with opportunities across the continuum of care. Requirements

• Competent evaluation with successful passing of probation; current on all mandatory classes/training.
• Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Maryland, or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing, is required.
• Maintenance of 10 contact hours of education/year.
• Demonstrated ability to lead others, such as effectiveness as charge nurse, preceptor, or clinical resource. Demonstrated effectiveness as a multidisciplinary team member.
• Ability to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient information.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population(s) served. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and ability to assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to his or her population-specific and age specific needs.
• Demonstrated/documented highly effective interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
