About The Position

Acts as a clinical resource assuring implementation of program policy/procedures and regulatory compliance. Oversees and provides care to acute and chronic dialysis patients as well as coordination of day to day operations by managing staff assignments and duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care to dialysis patients.
  • Supervises and coordinates day-to-day operations of the unit to include staffing and patient scheduling.
  • Duties are performed in such a manner as to ensure the unit operates in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assists leader in the review, implementation, and compliance of Avera policies and procedures, and requirement of outside regulatory agencies.
  • Assists with submission of quality and regulatory reporting as directed.
  • Assists with the collection and analysis of performance improvement data.
  • Reviews patient treatment plan with direct caregivers and primary nurses.
  • Offers suggestions/interventions to enhance efficiency and quality of care.
  • Communicates and rounds with patients and staff as directed.
  • Coordinates operations and procedures including biomedical matters, physician orders, supplies, primary nursing, and regulatory reporting as directed.
  • Rounds with physicians and provides patient updates.
  • Follows through with physician orders.
  • Facilitates resolution of staff/family/patient concerns and reports to proper management as necessary.
  • Utilizes order sets to timely order lab work.
  • Monitors lab results and reports abnormal results to nephrologist.
  • Assists the leader as requested with staff orientation and staff development, procedure development and revision, and patient education.
