About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) position in Oncology Acute Care is a full-time role that operates on a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM. The 4 East unit is a complex and fast-paced 33-bed Medical Surgical unit specializing in the care of oncology patients. The goal of the unit is to provide exceptional nursing care with a caring and compassionate focus while maintaining the dignity and respect of patients. The nursing staff takes a holistic approach to care, involving patients, families, caretakers, and designated individuals. Collaboration with other departments is essential to ensure that patients receive the best, most efficient, and highest quality care. Nurses are required to complete the UMC Chemo Certificate Course and are encouraged to pursue additional national certifications. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a family and enhance nursing skills, time management, and critical thinking.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Valid Texas RN License or Eligible Compact License.
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.
  • BSN required or must be obtained within 3 years of hire.
  • Completion of UMC Chemo Certificate Course within 1 year.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, implement or delegate, plan, and evaluate total nursing care.
  • Provide and direct patient care for a group of patients.
  • Ensure effective communication with other shifts and departments for optimal continuity of care.
