Make a Difference at One of the Nation’s Leading Academic Medical Centers Duke University Hospital is seeking compassionate, driven Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Abdominal Transplant Unit (6DCT). This high‑acuity, fast‑paced unit provides exceptional care to patients throughout the entire transplant journey, from pre‑transplant evaluation through post‑transplant recovery and readmissions. Our 37‑bed unit specializes in caring for patients with complex diagnoses, including: Liver Transplant (Pre & Post) Kidney Transplant Pancreas Transplant Small Bowel Transplant Hand Transplant This is a highly collaborative environment where nursing expertise is valued and professional growth is encouraged.

Requirements

  • Graduation from one of the following: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher OR Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) OR Nursing Diploma Program
  • BSN Requirement:RNs without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within two years of hire and complete the degree within seven years of their start date.
  • Current North Carolina RN license
  • BLS Certification (required)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, provide, and document patient care using the nursing process
  • Deliver care in accordance with physician orders and established protocols
  • Delegate and supervise licensed and unlicensed care team members
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare partners to optimize outcomes
  • Maintain a safe, organized environment of care
  • Prioritize workflow and utilize available resources effectively
  • Participate in professional development and ongoing competency validation
  • Support the education and development of peers and learners
  • Contribute to quality improvement and performance initiatives
  • Comprehensive patient assessments, care planning, and continuous evaluation
  • Patient and family education aligned with individualized plans of care
  • Relationship‑focused practice with patients, families, physicians, leadership, and the broader care team
