Requirements

  • Knowledge of scope of the registered nurse, licensed p ractical nurse andunlicensed staff
  • Knowledge of and appropriate applicati on of the nursing process
  • Knowledge of professional theory, practice and procedure
  • Ability to assess nursing needs of acute and chronically ill pa tientsand their families
  • Ability to independently seek out resources and work collaboratively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, vis itors,healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others
  • Ability to teach patients and families in accordance with the nursingpla n of care
  • Ability to use sensory and cognitive functions to process and p rioritizeinformation, treatment, and follow-up
  • Ability to use fine motor skills
  • Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support requirement sdesignated by work area
  • Ability to record activities, document assessmen ts, plan of care,interventions, evaluation and re-evaluation of patient status
  • Ability to use computer and learn new software programs
  • Able to doc ument and communicate pertinent information using computerand/or paper d ocumentation tools
  • Ability to navigate the entity to provide clinical car e for patients
  • Ability to withstand prolonged standing and walking.

  • Working knowledge of procedures and tec hniques involved in administeringroutine and special treatments to patie nts
  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety precauti ons
  • Working knowledge and completion of appropriate The Joint Commission( TJC) and other regulatory requirements

  • Work requires gradua tion from an accredited BSN program.
  • Exception: Registered nurses hired b etween July 1, 2014 and April 11,2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nur sing (or higher) are encouragedto enroll in an appropriate BSN program w ithin two years of their startdate but must complete the program within seven years of their startdate.
  • Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2 014 are not required toenroll in a BSN program to remain in this job cla ssification.
  • Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
  • Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of Nor thCarolina.
  • BLS required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, provide, super vise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and procedures.
  • Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize the plan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and resp onse to care.
  • Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other licens ed andunlicensed care providers.
  • Assist other nursing personnel in the de livery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a group of patients or an entire unitas assigned.
  • Monitor and initiate correctiv e action to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment andmate rial resources.
  • Participate in own professional development by maintainin g requiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropria teassistance or educational offerings.
  • Act as preceptor and support the d evelopment of other staff and formallearners.
  • Participate in the identifi cation of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities a nd in performance improvement activities.
  • Perform other related duties in cidental to the work described herein.
