About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members. Join the Salt Lake Area Float/Resource Pool and work across multiple Intermountain Health facilities—including Intermountain Medical Center, Alta View, LDS, Park City, Riverton. Strategically located in the heart of the Salt Lake Valley, Intermountain Medical Center opened in 2007 after a decade of planning to replace aging facilities and expand care capabilities. Today, it serves as a Level I Trauma Center and a central hub for advanced healthcare, offering access to a wide range of specialties and cutting-edge resources. Requirements

  • Current RN license in the state of Utah (or compact license)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • RNs with less than 12 months of RN experience must obtain a BSN within 5 years of their start date
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice.
  • Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment.
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date.
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in acute care, critical care, or women’s services
  • 2 years acute RN experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care in departments such as Women’s Services, Labor & Delivery, Acute Care, and Intensive Care
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care
  • Adapt quickly to different clinical environments, patient populations, and unit needs
  • Cross-train across multiple specialties (with potential for additional financial incentives)
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation to support patient outcomes and team communication
