About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Resource Nurse position at Lubbock Heart & Surgical Hospital is a part-time role focused on the day-to-day clinical operations of an assigned area. The nurse will engage in direct patient care approximately 75% of the time, while the remaining 25% will involve managerial tasks. This role requires collaboration with other staff members and assumes a leadership position during shifts, ensuring high-quality patient care and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program of nursing.
• Minimum of 3 years' continuous clinical experience in a critical/acute care setting.
• At least 2 years of recent management experience preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Texas.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a surgical or cardiac care setting.
• Certification in a specialty area of nursing.

Responsibilities

• Participate in administering patient care and management of related services.
• Coordinate the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients in collaboration with other team leaders.
• Assist families and patients in teaching necessary skills for successful post-discharge care.
• Ensure patient equipment and supplies are available and in operating condition.
• Perform clinical quality improvement activities such as patient satisfaction surveying.
• Identify and implement corrective actions as necessary.
• Delegate appropriately to non-licensed staff according to job descriptions and standards of practice.
• Participate in peer review and develop other staff and students.
• Maintain and promote a team spirit through active cooperation and collaboration.
• Assist in interdepartmental service coordination and performance improvement programs.
• Assume a leadership role in maintaining the patient-focused care delivery system.
• Assist in directing and guiding staff in unit operations.
• Maintain positive relationships with internal and external customers.
