About The Position

UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Inpatient Older Adult Behavioral Health unit. This position is a full-time role with evening and night shifts, specifically from 3 PM to 11 PM and 11 PM to 7 AM, including weekend and holiday rotations, totaling 32 hours per week. The role comes with a sign-on bonus of $10,000 paid over two years. As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the nurse will contribute professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to adult mental health patients and their families. The nurse will maintain a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses and the Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health, collaborating with other caregivers to ensure a safe and therapeutic milieu while utilizing therapeutic communication skills to facilitate patient and family recovery from mental health crises.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Newly licensed nurse within the last six months or less than six months acute RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act.
• Provides nursing care for patients and families.
• Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses and the Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health.
• Collaborates with other caregivers within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model.
• Completes the residency program within the first 12 months of employment.
