About The Position

The Registered Nurse - Rehab position at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation involves promoting and restoring patients' health through the nursing process. This includes collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, and delegating and evaluating care assigned to LPNs and CNAs to meet patient care needs. The role requires working per diem with day or night shifts of 12 hours, either starting at 7 AM or 7 PM.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required.
  • Registered Nurse license required.
  • Basic Life Support / CPR certification required.
  • Prior med-surg or rehabilitation experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Certification in Rehabilitation Nursing preferred (must be acquired within 3 years of employment).

Responsibilities

  • Identifies patient care requirements by establishing rapport with patients and understanding their care needs.
  • Uses the nursing process to deliver care and contribute to a plan of care within 24 hours of admission.
  • Establishes patient care goals and educates patients and families on conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
  • Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards and participating in performance improvement activities.
  • Documents patient care services and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and infection control policies.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by following manufacturer's instructions and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Demonstrates financial accountability by managing inventory and minimizing overtime.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuous education and participation in professional organizations.
  • Contributes to organizational team effort by maintaining attendance, demonstrating flexibility, and mentoring new employees.
