Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager Peri-Operative Services, the Recovery Room Nurse provides intensive observation and care of patient following an operative procedure for which an anesthetic agent has been required, takes necessary measures directed to counteract unfavorable conditions of anesthesia, notes and relieves post-anesthesia effects on the patient. The Recovery Nurse works closely with the Nurse Manager, the Surgeons, the Nurse anesthetist and Nursing Staff members of the medical surgical floor.

Requirements

  • Must be at least18 years of age.
  • Proof of highest level of education completed but not less than high school education or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Arizona Registered Nurse License.
  • Minimum of one year registered nurse experience in acute care
  • Maintains current CPR Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs.
  • Maintains current ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs within one (1) month of hire.
  • Maintains current PALS Certification from the American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or other approved educational programs within two (2) months of hire.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current trends in nursing.
  • Ability to identify significant changes in patient condition.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in oral and written form.
  • An understanding of computer systems, process design and data management.
  • Must have a well-groomed, professional appearance.
  • Must have the mental and physical ability to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull, & push 50 pounds.
  • Language proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal fluency.
