As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organizations vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes. The Radiation Oncology Nurse is a registered nurse who functions in a collaborative role with the Radiation Oncology Team in providing continuity and quality patient care. The nurse will assess and provide appropriate nursing interventions for the actual or potential problems that the patient may experience related to the disease process, treatment course, and follow up period. This role emphasizes teaching, counseling, and supportive functions needed to assist the patient and/or family to cope with and adjust to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The R.N. assists in the evaluation and examination of patients with the Radiation Oncologist. This person is the liaison between Radiation Oncology and other hospitals and/or departments as well as physicians groups/offices and other counseling/support groups. In this setting the Radiation Oncology Nurse will assess and provide appropriate referrals for alternative resources for recovery, rehabilitation, nursing home care, hospice and nutritional services.

Requirements

  • Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in an Oncology department preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patients condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patients medical record.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patients medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
