The Residential Nurse in the IDD Division is responsible for participating in the pre-admission evaluation study and plan, program design, and placement of residents at the time of admission. This role includes periodic reevaluation of services and programming, development of discharge plans, and referral to community resources. The nurse prepares and continually reviews nursing intervention plans based on a comprehensive review of the client's overall condition, ensuring that interventions are consistent with the client's treatment plan and consider their cultural and ethnic background. The nurse collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Team to develop treatment plans and nursing assessments that reflect the holistic needs of each client. Responsibilities also include overseeing the implementation of nursing care, coordinating with other professional disciplines, conducting in-service training, and ensuring compliance with health standards.

  • Provides emergency care and crisis intervention.
  • Maintains consumer medical records and coordinates medical appointments.
  • Conducts weekly medical meetings and ensures compliance with recommendations.
  • Conducts medication audits and ensures proper administration.
  • Trains staff in nursing techniques and equipment use.
  • New York State License and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse.
  • Prefer at least one year post RN licensure clinical nursing experience working with individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
