Matrix Providers is hiring Registered Nurse (Psychiatry In-Patient Units) to join our team of talented professionals who provide health care services to their Military Service Members and their families in at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA Employment Status: Full Time Schedule: Services shall be provided Sunday through Saturday for three hundred sixty (360) hours per week. Typical shifts could be: 0645 1915, 0645 1515, 1845 0715, 1845 0315, 1045 1915, 1445 2315, or 2245 0715. Shifts will normally be scheduled for and eight and half (8.5), ten (10) hour periods, or twelve (12) hour periods; to include an uncompensated thirty (30) minute. In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of eighty (80) hours per two-week period. Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), or may be a graduate of a state accredited professional nursing program. Experience: Possess a minimum of one (1) year of experience within the last two (2) years working as an inpatient Psychiatric RN. Certification: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers, American Heart Association, or American Red Cross Healthcare Provider Course. Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse. Registered Nurse Core Job Duties: Practice effective problem identification and resolution skills as a method of sound decision making. Apply in-depth knowledge of nursing theory and principles relative to the care of patients with complex psychiatric conditions, to include substance abuse, milieu therapy, group dynamics, use of psychotropic medications and crisis intervention. Participate in discharge planning utilizing available resources, to include rehabilitation as appropriate. Assess and intervene in clinical situations (including suicidal, homicidal, or elopement behavior) that may require intervention to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Follow Command and clinic specific policies for adverse situations (including suicidal, homicidal, assaultive, or elopement behavior) that may require intervention to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Obtain twelve (12) lead Electrocardiograms (EKGs), determine implications, and take indicated actions. Oversee, escort, or act as a therapeutic participant in patient activities outside of the clinic as required. Liaison with patient's military command as needed, communicating outpatient needs and discharge plans within current Command policy and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) guidelines for disclosure of information.
