Requirements

  • Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Nevada.
  • BLS upon hire and maintain current.
  • Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
  • Working knowledge of interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
  • Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS within 90 days of hire (only in required departments).
  • Basic Arrhythmia within 90 days of hire (CCU/ICU, ED, Tele, Neuro Tele).
  • NIH Stroke within 90 days of hire (CCU/ICU, ED, Tele, Neuro Tele).
  • PALS within 90 days of hire (only in required departments).

Responsibilities

  • Treat patients and educate them about mental and medical conditions.
  • Provide advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members.
  • Run therapeutic groups and perform psychiatric crisis intervention.
  • Seclude and restrain patients when necessary.
  • Record patients' medical histories and symptoms.
  • Help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
  • Operate medical machinery and administer treatment and medications.
  • Assist with patient follow-up and rehabilitation.
  • Teach patients and their families how to manage their illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, and self-administration of medication and physical therapy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
