About The Position

The Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (PCU RN) provides intermediate-level nursing care to patients who require close monitoring but do not meet ICU criteria. The RN is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to manage complex clinical conditions during night shift operations.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 1 year of recent PCU, step-down, or equivalent acute care experience
• Ability to work night shifts and weekends as scheduled
• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills

Nice To Haves

• Prior travel or contract nursing experience
• Experience with electronic charting systems

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU patients with moderate to high acuity
• Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and clinical status
• Identify and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Administer medications and IV therapies per physician orders
• Perform patient assessments, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Utilize evidence-based practices to deliver safe and effective care
• Participate in rapid response and emergency situations as required
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
• Ensure compliance with infection control and patient safety standards
• Communicate effectively with physicians, care teams, patients, and families
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Management of patients requiring continuous monitoring
• IV therapy and peripheral line management
• Oxygen delivery devices and respiratory monitoring
• Post-procedural and medical cardiac care
• Recognition and escalation of clinical deterioration
