Performs a variety of professional duties involved in developing and delivering occupational health nursing services;. Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating health maintenance and health education programs. Contributes to the design of health controls and surveillance relative to toxic or hazardous conditions in the work environment. The candidate selected will screen new hires for needed immunizations at orientation each Monday and will give necessary immunizations. Participate in other scheduled immunization events. Experience drawing blood and/or prior Occupational Health experience is highly desired. The clinic hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; however, this is a PRN (As Needed) position. The candidate selected may work but not limited to the following: Monday Staff Orientation for sometimes up to 6 hours; available for late night/roaming cart where we go to different departments across campus and give vaccinations, rotate through One Hundred Oaks, annual Flulapalooza is required; and House Staff Orientation events during the summer, fill in clinic as needed. Travel to other facilities across the Vanderbilt Health campus is necessary for this position. The Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) provides comprehensive Occupational Medicine programming to Vanderbilt workforce members. This includes medical care for work-related illness and injury, as well as minor, non-work-related illnesses. OHC also provides medical surveillance for work-related hazards as well as exposure evaluations, ergonomic assessments, and new employee immunization and screening services as appropriate for safe employment at Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

  • Assists in planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating occupational health and health promotions programs; assist in developing objectives for occupational health services through a collaborative role with Occupational Health Clinic Medical Director and staff, and physicians.
  • Provides on-site care to employees within the guidelines of written medical orders at Vanderbilt and manage chronic health care of employees within the guidelines of written medical orders, providing medications, health assessment, and referral.
  • Develops and/or maintains and audits employee health records to ensure continuity of care, employee confidentiality and feedback to management, in compliance with government regulation, company policy and applicable Codes of Ethics.
  • Assists in evaluating the occupational health and safety programs of Vanderbilt and recommend changes in policies, procedures, or programs.
  • Provides individual counseling sessions to employees on health maintenance, results of health screenings and health promotion activities; provide pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening of employees as requested by client companies; recommend, purchase, and maintain medical supplies and equipment necessary for the optimal functioning of the occupational health service.
