About The Position

The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. Follows established policies and procedures Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management and physicians Applies Cooper core values Other duties as required Overview The Surgical Care Unit (SCU) , Short Procedure Unit (SPU), Same Day Surgery (SDS) and Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) are in Camden at the hospital on the second, third and fifth floors. First Pre-Admission Testing, located in 3 Cooper calls to review a patient’s health information prior to a surgical procedure. Once approval for the recommended surgical procedure is finalized and patient information is reviewed the patient is provided with information on when and where to report. Once arrived and registered the patient is escorted to the appropriate location to be prepped for surgical procedure. These RN’s prep the patient for the procedure. They review medical history, medical procedures and place an IV. Patients are met by Anesthesia and their Surgeon. Once everything is reviewed and verified the patient then goes to the OR.

Requirements

1-year Critical Care Required (PACU preferred)
Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing
Current NJ- RN License (Registered Nurse)
Current BLS (Basic Life Support)
Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Obtained within 3 months of hire date: Current PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Nice To Haves

Current CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
Current CPAN (Certified Perianesthesia Nurse)
