About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, compassionate, and comprehensive nursing care to patients of all ages, ensuring care is in accordance with regulatory requirements, facility policy, and the Texas State Board of Nursing standards. The RN is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care and supervises or delegates appropriately within the scope of practice. Clinical reasoning, communication, and a commitment to professional excellence are fundamental to this role.

Requirements

  • Texas RN License or Compact State Licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire
  • English proficiency in reading, writing, and communication
  • ACLS (Cath Lab, ICU, Intermediate Care)

Responsibilities

  • Comprehensive Assessment Conducts initial and ongoing patient assessments, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation. Uses evidence-based data, surveillance, and clinical reasoning to determine health status and care needs. Anticipates changes in patient condition and initiates reassessment when indicated.
  • Diagnosis/Problem Identification & Planning Synthesizes assessment findings to identify patient problems. Develops and revises individualized care plans based on evidence-based practices and interdisciplinary collaboration. Sets goals and outcomes, formulates teaching plans, and includes preventative care strategies.
  • Implementation Initiates nursing interventions and delegates tasks within legal and ethical boundaries. Safely assigns responsibilities to LVNs and unlicensed personnel, considering their skill, training, and patient conditions. Provides education and counseling during care delivery.
  • Evaluation & Reassessment Continuously evaluates patient response to interventions and adjusts care plans as needed. Documents outcomes and coordinates follow-up care or referrals.
  • Communication & Collaboration Maintains clear, timely, and respectful communication with the healthcare team, patients, and families. Documents all aspects of care accurately and professionally. Seeks collaboration with other professionals when patient needs exceed current competencies.
  • Clinical Reasoning Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking in all clinical decisions. Maintains accountability for the quality of nursing care delivered.
  • Safety, Ethics & Boundaries Ensures all care is provided safely, ethically, and with cultural sensitivity. Maintains professional boundaries, including in digital and social media environments. Immediately reports unsafe practices or patient safety concerns.
  • Professionalism & Compliance Fulfills continuing education and clinical competency requirements. Abides by local, state, and federal laws, as well as hospital and regulatory policies (OSHA, TJC, CMS, HIPAA). Provides care without discrimination, maintaining a respectful and inclusive environment at all times.
  • Additional Responsibilities Attend department meetings and trainings regularly. Respond to emergencies and escalate care appropriately. Perform other duties as assigned in alignment with department and facility goals.
  • Supervision Responsibilities May supervise LVNs and unlicensed personnel by directing, guiding, and evaluating their performance based on competence and patient conditions. May serve as a mentor or preceptor for new staff and students.
