Rebound Surgery Center is seeking a relief status Registered Nurse to join our dedicated surgical care team. As a key member of our perioperative department, you’ll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, supporting surgical excellence, and ensuring a safe, efficient operating environment. Relief status employees are required to avail themselves to Rebound Surgery Center at least 4 shifts every 6 weeks. The Pre‑Op & Post‑Op RN provides safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients before and after surgical or procedural interventions at Rebound Surgery Center. The RN ensures compliance with federal Conditions for Coverage, Washington State licensure rules, and AORN perioperative nursing standards.

Requirements

  • Active Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Maintain BLS through AHA required
  • Maintain ACLS through AHA required
  • Willingness to complete PALS as required through AHA.
  • Associate or BS Degree or Diploma in Nursing strongly desired
  • Minimum 1 year experience in Pre‑Op, PACU, critical care, or emergency nursing (preferred).
  • Must have good assessment and airway management skills.
  • Strong assessment and clinical judgment skills, consistent with Washington RN scope of practice and standards of nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • IV skills and conscious sedation preferred.
  • Experience with electronic medical records and perioperative workflows recommended.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and document pre‑operative nursing assessments, including verification of H&P, consent, allergies, NPO status, medication reconciliation, and required diagnostics.
  • Validate patient identity, procedure, and surgical site per facility policy and national safety standards.
  • Assess patient risk factors and readiness for anesthesia and surgery; escalate abnormalities to anesthesia and surgeon.
  • Provide pre‑operative patient and family education, covering procedure expectations, post‑op care, pain control, discharge instructions, and emergency contact information.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control measures including pre‑op skin prep, attire, and environment controls.
  • Receive handoff from anesthesia and OR team using standardized communication tools.
  • Continuously monitor physiological status (airway, respiratory effort, oxygenation, hemodynamics, pain, temperature, LOC) until the patient meets safe discharge criteria established by the center.
  • Provide appropriate post‑op interventions, including airway support, pain/nausea management, wound/IV site care, and mobility assistance.
  • Ensure compliance with the ASC's post‑anesthesia care requirements, including observation by qualified personnel until medically cleared.
  • Reinforce discharge teaching, ensuring understanding of home care instructions, medication guidance, red‑flag symptoms, and follow‑up requirements.
