About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years, integrating clinical care with existing community providers, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s), The George Washington University Hospital, and our Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This integrated delivery system is a robust network of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it ensures that residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and newborn delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for clinic visits and other outpatient services, a 500-car garage, and a helipad for emergency transport. We are seeking an experienced Pre-Op Registered Nurse (Part Time-Days) Our ideal candidate is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients prior to surgical or procedural intervention in an acute care environment. This role includes conducting thorough pre-operative assessments, verifying medical histories and consents, initiating IV access, administering medications, completing pre-surgical checklists, and ensuring patient readiness for surgery. The Pre-Op RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and perioperative team members to promote patient safety, optimize clinical outcomes, and deliver compassionate, patient-centered care. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
  • DC RN License required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Minimum 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience required
  • Strong pre-operative assessment and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia considerations
  • Proficiency in IV insertion and medication administration
  • Ability to review and verify consents, labs, diagnostics, and surgical documentation
  • Familiarity with infection prevention and patient safety standards
  • Excellent communication and patient education skills
  • Ability to prioritize and function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in Pre-Op, PACU, OR, ICU, or ED strongly preferred
  • Experience with surgical patient preparation and perioperative processes preferred
