About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) PreOp position at SCA Health involves providing specialized nursing care to patients before surgical procedures. Requirements

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
• One year of ICU, ED, PACU, and/or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• Specialty certification in Perioperative or perianesthesia Nursing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient's preoperative status according to facility policies and procedures.
• Interpret information from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Communicate the patient's current status throughout the perianesthesia continuum of care.
• Administer medications safely and correctly using the 8-rights of safe medication administration.
• Provide acute pain and comfort management as needed.
• Perform interventions to maintain the integrity of the patient's wound and tissue perfusion.
• Provide education regarding expected psychosocial responses and pain management.
• Evaluate the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes.
• Document episodes of care completely, accurately, and legibly.
