The Pre-Evaluation Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for pre-operative phone call assessments and planning for the care of patients undergoing surgical intervention, pain injections, and/or diagnostic procedures. The RN collects a thorough medical and surgical history, including medication review, and ensures required pre-op testing has been ordered, completed and reviewed by anesthesia, as needed. In collaboration with the Medical Director/Anesthesiologist, the RN determines the patient is a sound medical candidate for outpatient surgery through the outlined criteria. The RN provides patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the pre-operative instructions.
