About The Position

The Pre-Evaluation Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for pre-operative phone call assessments and planning for the care of patients undergoing surgical intervention, pain injections, and/or diagnostic procedures. The RN collects a thorough medical and surgical history, including medication review, and ensures required pre-op testing has been ordered, completed and reviewed by anesthesia, as needed. In collaboration with the Medical Director/Anesthesiologist, the RN determines the patient is a sound medical candidate for outpatient surgery through the outlined criteria. The RN provides patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the pre-operative instructions.

Requirements

  • A graduation certificate from an accredited school of nursing (RN program), required
  • Current license to practice nursing in Mississippi, required
  • ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications, required
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Highly organized and detail oriented; particularly in regards to time management
  • Ability to prioritize key objectives while performing daily tasks as well as the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to effectively utilize applicable electronic systems and programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in peri-anesthesia or critical care area, preferred
