POSITION SUMMARY: The Peri-Anesthesia Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care of patients undergoing surgical intervention, pain injections, and diagnostic procedures. The Peri-Anesthesia RN provides assessment, patient surveillance and timely administration of physician’s orders to prepare patients for procedures. The Peri-Anesthesia RN provides continuous patient surveillance for early recognition and immediate emergency treatment of any medical or surgical complication that may arise. The Peri-Anesthesia RN determines that the patient is suitable for discharge; and provides patients and family members with an additional opportunity for education and review of the post op instructions. The Peri-Anesthesia RN also calls the patient on the first working post op day to check on post op progress. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: A graduation certificate from an accredited school of nursing (RN program), required Current license to practice nursing in Mississippi, required ACLS, PALS and BLS certifications, required Experience in peri-anesthesia or critical care area, preferred Certificate of course completion in Moderate Sedation, required QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Highly organized and detail oriented; particularly in regard to time managementAbility to prioritize key objectives while performing daily tasks as well as the ability to manage multiple duties simultaneously Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to effectively utilize applicable electronic systems and programs WORK SCHEDULE: PRN
