About The Position

The Preoperative and PACU Registered Nurse (RN) position at Advanced Surgery Center of Metairie is a full-time role focused on providing high-quality patient care throughout the perioperative process. The RN will be responsible for preoperative assessments, collaborating with the surgical team, administering medications, monitoring patient conditions, and providing post-anesthesia care in the PACU. This role emphasizes a commitment to patient safety and comfort, with a work schedule that allows for a healthy work-life balance, including no weekends, holidays, or call requirements.

Requirements

• Current RN license in the state of Louisiana.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum of three years of nursing experience; perioperative or PACU experience is preferred.
• Strong critical thinking and assessment skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preoperative assessments, including reviewing medical histories and conducting physical assessments.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor and document patient vital signs and conditions throughout the perioperative period.
• Provide post-anesthesia care in the PACU, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Assess and manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms.
• Ensure patient and family education regarding post-operative care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR).
