Durango Outpatient Surgery Center has an opening for a Registered Nurse Pre-Admission Testing  (PAT)   Durango Outpatient Surgery Center is a fast-paced Ambulatory Surgery Center committed to producing the highest quality work and experience for patients and their families.  Our mission is to provide first-class surgical services to the local community in a safe, comfortable, welcoming environment, one in which we would be happy to treat our own families. We have 5 operating rooms offering a full range of surgical procedures including: Bariatrics, Colorectal, General Surgery/Robotics, GI, OB/Gynecology, Sports Medicine, Orthopedic, Pain Management, Podiatry, and Spine.   What You Will Do   (Job Summary):    The Pre-Admission Nurse performs a verbal assessment with the patient prior to admission via a phone interview as well as collects the patient’s medical history from previous medical records and integrates information into facilities’ web-based patient medical portal. The nurse also works closely with the surgeons’ offices and anesthesia groups in coordinating the patient’s needs prior to surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Practice appropriate telephone and patient triage skills, being aware of the need to balance quality care with efficient use of time and resources.
  • Perform verbal assessment with patient prior to admission – in person or via telephone, communicating information to appropriate team members.
  • Ensure pre-operative care requirements of patients are accomplished through use of the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Perform patient teaching/education as established by the department.
  • Assess pertinent information, plan, implement, and document interventions and evaluate results.
