The Pre-Admission Testing RN focuses on the physical, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual preparation for the perioperative experience. Interview and assessment techniques are used to identify potential or actual problems prior to the scheduled procedure. Patient education and interventions are initiated to optimize positive patient outcomes. Services offered are provided in accordance with national standards of practice which are applicable to surgical services i.e. AORN, CDC, ASA, ASPAN and medical specialty standards and Michigan Public Health Code Act 368 of 1978, Article 15 (Health Occupations) Part 172 (Nursing). The RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and service appropriate to the age of the patient served.
