A perioperative RN plays a dual role. In the PACU or recovery phase, the RN monitors patients as they emerge from anesthesia, managing pain levels and observing vital signs to ensure stable recovery. The registered nurse provides education on discharge instructions and necessary follow-up care. Key responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, pain management, and patient education. These roles are essential for patient safety and effective perioperative care.
