At Mayo Clinic, you will become a vital member of a dynamic team at one of the world's most exceptional health care institutions. Our Nursing Care Model combines Relationship-Based Care with an evidence-based approach. This allows for a stronger connection between patient and caregiver, and a more individualized, appropriate type of care. You will also discover a culture of teamwork, professionalism and mutual respect, and—most importantly—a life-changing career. The Perioperative 101 Nursing Program is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for a nursing career in the operating room. This program provides the high-quality didactic and clinical experiences needed to help you become a well-rounded, fully competent perioperative registered nurse. The Perioperative RN coordinates the surgical team in all aspects of OR activities, provides for optimum perioperative nursing care and functions as the patient's advocate. A selection committee will carefully review each candidate's completed application and supporting documentation before the pre-screening and interview process will begin. Upon acceptance into the program, candidates will be paid an RN OR hourly rate and are benefit eligible as of day 1 of employment. Candidates who complete the program will be awarded contact hours from the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and be eligible to take the Perioperative Certification exam after completing two years of perioperative nursing. The RN in the Operating Room circulates and coordinates the surgical team in all aspects of OR activities, providing for optimum perioperative nursing care to patients. Our state-of-the-art hospital in Jacksonville includes 34 operating rooms that include an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite. We use the best modern equipment and advanced technologies to create an environment that merges the art of healing with the science of medicine.
