About The Position

The PACU Nurse at the University of Vermont Medical Center is responsible for providing care to a diverse patient population in a 35-bay recovery unit that supports the Operating Room. This role involves treating both inpatient and outpatient individuals who have undergone various surgical procedures, particularly in a level 1 trauma center setting. The position requires on-call availability and offers various shift differentials for evening and weekend work.

Requirements

  • Current RN license in Vermont or eligible for licensure.
  • Experience in a critical care or PACU setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgery.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition during recovery.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding recovery processes.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new staff members.
