The Pediatric Emergency Department at IU Health North hospital treats a variety of patients including those with neurological, cardiac, respiratory, orthopedic, endocrine, urinary, gastrointestinal, and integumentary complaints. A registered nurse in the Peds ED will collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and child life specialists to provide excellent, compassionate care to our patients. Referral Bonus Eligible Shifts: Part-time Night shift available Nursing skills gained on this unit: Strong clinical judgment and independence in a small, high‑responsibility 8‑bed unit Close collaboration with highly engaged leaders who work in scrubs and support bedside care A voice in unit decisions through shared governance and a professional practice council Growth in a Magnet‑recognized environment focused on evidence‑based practice and teamwork Unit Successes/Designations: Preferred pediatric clinical site for 3 nursing schools Zero hospital-acquired infections or harm events in 2022 and 2023 Magnet re-designation in 2023 Unit Culture Highlights: Small unit that facilitates a strong team bond A supportive culture with low turnover, strong team cohesion, and a focus on well‑being and work–life balance

Requirements

• Requires Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
• Minimum of one year of RN experience
