About The Position

Our team is passionate about caring for children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and blood disorders. As a fully integrated childhood cancer program, we provide a continuum of care that is unmatched in the area and are able to manage even the most rare and complex cases. Through our program, patients have access to the latest advancements in care, including lifesaving clinical trials. Our newly opened outpatient clinic offers: 25 patient rooms, inclusive of 16 infusion/treatment and 9 exam rooms. Pediatric Activity Room Adolescent and Young Adult Patient Lounge Phlebotomy and Lab Services Onsite pharmacy Our patient population consists of newborn through young adult (30 years) requiring treatment for: Benign and Malignant Hematology Sickle Cell Anemia Hemostasis and Thrombosis Oncology and Survivorship Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Rainbow Subspecialty Patients with infusion needs Provides safe efficient age specific nursing care to patients/families using the nursing process in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Other Accredited Program: Diploma in Nursing or
  • (ADN) Associate's Degree in Nursing (Required)
  • Registered Nurse (RN), Ohio and/or Multi State Compact License (Required Upon Hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required Upon Hire)
  • 1 year of inpatient RN experience required, 2yrs preferred.
  • Knowledge of nursing process and practice. (Required proficiency)
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (ie. stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers and electronic monitoring devices. (Required proficiency)

Nice To Haves

  • (BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
  • (MN) Master in Nursing (Preferred)
  • Pediatric and/or HemOnc experience is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) May be required based on the clinical care standards of the unit. Refer to ACLS/PALS Unit Requirements document found on DWP Nursing Portal to determine requirements by unit.

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
