About The Position

We are seeking a P rogressive Care Registered Nurse or PCU RN , internally referred to as our Progressive Care Nurse . In the Progressive Care Unit (PCU), the PCU RN or Step-Down RN will provide specialized care to patients with acute and/or chronic medical conditions who require close monitoring, i ntervention, and support to optimize their outcomes and facilitate their transition to lower levels of care. Shift’s Available : Nights Employment Type : Per Diem Hours : 12hr - 7 pm-7 am Location: Dallas Regional Medical Center – Mesquite, TX

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
  • Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
  • Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care to critically ill patients by performing detailed assessments, developing care plans, and implementing complex nursing interventions
  • U se advanced equipment like cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and capnography devices to continuously track vital signs and physiological parameters
  • Safely administer medications, intravenous fluids, and blood products with precise dosing and timing, closely monitoring patient responses to ensure effectiveness and prevent adverse reactions
  • Manag e life-support devices such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and cardiac monitors
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients' families, acting as a liaison to ensure they understand the care being provided
  • Documen t all aspects of patient care to ensure continuity and compliance while rigorously maintaining infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable patients
