About The Position

The Program Director, Post-Baccalaureate RN Residency (PBRNR) Registered Nurse (RN) functions under the direction of the supervisor and is responsible for collaborating in assisting the PBRNR Residency Program in achieving its mission, goals, and expected outcomes. The PBRNR Residency program consists of a comprehensive 12-month curriculum built upon standards related to clinical, leadership, and professional dimensions. The PBRNR Program Director assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the program based on established policies and guidelines consistent with the program mission, goals, and expected outcomes. The PBRNR Program Director is responsible for the quality and quantity of program specific training and establishes program initiatives and direction within limitations of available staff and budget. In collaboration with leadership, stakeholders, academic affiliates, and the program participants, the PBRNR Program Director contributes to education for the transition from academia to clinical practice, integration into the organization, and socialization into the professional nurse role. Administers the facility developed formal, data-driven, systematic plan for appraising the effectiveness of the program and disseminates program outcomes. The incumbent will provide effective leadership, management, and administrative program oversight to achieve the mission, goals and expected outcomes of this academic-based training program. The program director will implement a 12-month program curriculum that is centered in management and delivery of quality and equitable care, professional role, the complexities of caring for Veterans, and leadership development based on the Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Accreditation Standards. The Facility Post-Baccalaureate RN Residency (PBRNR) Program Director has the authority and accountability for overall program management, monitoring, and compliance oversight ensuring the development and implementation of a robust academic-based training program. This academic-based centrally funded nurse residency program provides a variety of experiences to enhance clinical skills and competence while shaping the new graduate's career trajectory. There may be required occasional flexing of schedule and travel to meet program needs.
