About The Position

Waldo Hospital is located in Belfast, Maine, overlooking the picturesque Maine coastline. Coastal Maine offers spectacular natural beauty and outdoor recreation, including sailing, kayaking, hiking, swimming, fishing, and biking. The area is rich in cultural opportunities and has great schools in a safe community environment. MaineHealth is offering a sign-on bonus for eligible experienced Registered Nurses: up to $10,000 for those with 0-2 years of experience and $20,000 for those with more than 2 years of experience. Eligible candidates must be hired into a Full or Part-time RN position, with the bonus amount prorated for Part-time hires. Current MaineHealth employees and former members who have not been separated for more than 6 months are ineligible. The Oncology Patient Navigator will guide patients through the care continuum, establishing contact with recurrent and newly diagnosed cancer patients and/or their family members or caregivers. The Patient Navigator will understand the clinical pathways established by the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network and will direct patients to healthcare services within the organization, at outside facilities, and within the community for timely diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. They will identify and address barriers to care that might prevent timely and appropriate treatment for cancer diagnoses, connect patients with resources, and assist in the transition from active treatment to survivorship. The Navigator will also work closely with the MaineHealth Cancer Care network and community-based service providers to identify community needs for cancer screening services and education regarding cancer prevention and early detection. They will be responsible for ongoing evaluation and quality improvement of the Navigator Program and provide supporting data for quality initiatives. The Oncology Patient Navigator will participate in the Maine Health Cancer Care Network navigator committee and work groups to maintain best practices.
