About The Position

The Registered Nurse position at Casa Esperanza is a part-time role focused on providing medical services in a residential substance abuse treatment facility. The nurse will oversee patient care, implement medical orders, monitor medication, and maintain medical records while working collaboratively with a clinical team to support individuals recovering from addiction and co-occurring mental health issues.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Licensed Registered Nurse
  • 2 years of nursing experience
  • 1 year of medication monitoring experience
  • 2 years of experience with EHR systems
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Knowledge of best practices associated with the American Society of Addiction Medicine
  • Knowledge of Medication Assisted Treatment for substance use disorders
  • Knowledge of Substance Use Disorder and other co-occurring conditions

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in addiction counseling
  • Experience in patient monitoring
  • Experience with mid-level addiction medicine

Responsibilities

  • Complete Nursing Assessments, COWS, CIWA Assessments upon admission.
  • Complete medical clearance exam at time of intake.
  • Complete Medication Monitoring and all required documentation.
  • Complete Medication Counts at start and finish of shift of all control and non-control substances.
  • Work closely with clinical team during MDT meetings to offer and provide client medical insight as part of case presentations.
  • Consult with staff and attend case conferences, as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Medical Director for medication reconciliation process.
  • Complete evaluations based on client request for medical attention, emergency and non-emergency triage and physical/mental health rounds for safety and condition monitoring.
  • Keep electronic health records up to date including progress notes and assessments of service.
  • Educate clients on their current medical diagnosis, needs and medical histories; educating clients on medication information and usages.
  • Alert physicians when conditions worsen or if abnormalities arise.
  • Work in collaboration with counselors to ensure proper medication management and medication planning.
