About The Position

Wound and Ostomy Care Nurses specialize in treating and monitoring wounds and ostomies resulting from disease, injury, or medical procedures. They apply the nursing process to manage conditions such as stomas, fistulas, pressure injuries, and continence disorders, while providing thorough documentation and patient education. In addition to clinical care, they may also serve as administrators, educators, consultants, and researchers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification.
  • Certification in Wound Care (WCC, WOCN).
  • 3+ years in general Medical - Surgical Nursing; wound care experience preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing or related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in Nursing or relevant area.
  • ACLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct care to wound healing inpatients with application of the nursing process.
  • Actively interfaces and assists within a multidisciplinary, collaborative relationship.
  • Coordinates with ANM/Manager in maintaining a safe environment of care.
  • Assesses, implements, plans, or evaluates patient nursing care plans by working with healthcare team members.
  • Participates in performance improvement.
  • Serves as a clinical resource to the health care team, patients and their families.
