The Registered Nurse (RN) practices independently within their scope of practice when the patient(s) condition indicates predictable outcome. The RN delivers nursing care based on a pre-set plan of care with a delineated range of intervention. Collaboration is required from the RN in situations that are beyond the scope of complexity designated to the RPN. You will provide exceptional “customer service” to patients and families within an inter-professional, team environment. You demonstrate professional accountability for your practice and are able to identify and pursue opportunities to meet your learning needs. Position Overview: Reporting to Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered environment. You will be part of a busy 24 bed acute Medicine/Oncology unit with 18 beds allocated for patients who have chosen a palliative approach to care. Our team focuses on providing specialist pain and symptom management, empathetic, dignified patient/family centered palliative and end-of-life care and high-quality acute nursing care. You will be able to participate in continuous education opportunities and workshops to help further your education. You will be able to bring your passion Oncology nursing to the department while advocating for patients and caregivers alongside RN’s and RPN’s.
