About The Position

As an integral member of the Palliative Care Team, the Registered Nurse provides consultative services to patients, families and staff regarding end of life and palliative care. Through evidence-based practices and relevant patient care models, the nursing culture will create a compassionate healing environment, ensure interdisciplinary collaboration and foster professional growth and satisfaction. The staff registered nurse (RN) is a licensed professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for planning, delegating, and coordinating the nursing care of a group of patients during a designated time frame utilizing the John Muir Medical Center Standards of Care, ANA's Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, and the California Nurse Practice Act, Title 22, and Title 16. The RN coordinates and provides care through the therapeutic use of self, nursing process, and the environment and technology, in partnership and collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing Required
  • Five years Nursing - Acute Care - Preferred
  • Healthcare - Pain Management Required
  • RN - Registered Nurse - Current California License Required
  • BLS - Basic Life Support - Certification - American Heart Association Required
  • A high degree of organizational skills, ability to set priorities, manage multiple demands and the ability to complete tasks under strict time lines is required.
  • Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Basic computer literacy to operate a computerized client/family information system, word processing and email.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintains professional and personal integrity.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, and motivated.
