Position: Registered Nurse MNA Location: Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Schedule: 30 Hours (1p-1130p or 9a-730p), Rotating Weekends ABOUT THE PACU AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: The PACU department at Boston Medical Center South is a 12-bay unit providing specialized critical care to patients as they are recovering from anesthesia after surgery. The team closely monitors and intervenes promptly with patients' vital signs, level of consciousness, airway, pain, wound care and nausea and vomiting. Their expertise and care contributes to a smoother and more comfortable recovery process. The PACU team at BMC South is committed to providing patient -centered care, involving collaboration with nursing staff, anesthesia providers and surgical team. POSITION SUMMARY: As an RN in the PACU, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model you will be uplifted by a supportive nursing organization, and will be able to deliver the excellent care to your patients that they deserve.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred); Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years required.
  • Current RN Massachusetts license & BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
  • TCAR or TNCC required required
  • 1 year of RN experience in a PACU or Critical Care unit

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in the Department, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
