About The Position

The PACU Registered Nurse provides post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural anesthesia. This role requires strong assessment skills, rapid clinical decision-making, and experience managing patients through Phase I and Phase II recovery in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of PACU nursing experience
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Active RN license required
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Phase I PACU
  • Phase II Recovery
  • Endoscopic and laparoscopic procedures
  • General surgery
  • Orthopedic procedures
  • Orthopedic/Spine procedures
  • Total joint replacements

Responsibilities

  • Provide Phase I and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery care.
  • Monitor airway, hemodynamics, pain levels, and level of consciousness.
  • Identify and respond to post-operative complications.
  • Administer medications and treatments per provider orders.
  • Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and perioperative staff.
  • Document patient assessments and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients and families regarding post-procedure recovery and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain compliance with patient safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
