About The Position

Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the PACU- Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This is a part time, day shift position in Charlottesville, VA. The schedule will be 20-30 hours per week, 10-hour shifts and required call. Sign on bonus of $7500.00 available for qualified candidates. PACU: The Post- Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nursing Staff are responsible for observing and treating post-operative patients from a variety of service lines including Radiology, Endoscopy, General surgery, Urology, Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. PACU is a 12-bed unit with a 1 to 2 nursing to patient ratio. Normal operating hours are 730AM to 930PM Monday to Friday with designated overnight and weekend call staff to mitigate call shift burden. One Friday overnight call shift every 6 to 8 weeks. One 24-hour holiday call shift per year. Call requirements are subject to unit needs and may require occasional additional hours.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
• Registered nursing License (Required)
• ACLS required within 90 days of hire.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• PALS required within 1 year of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)

Responsibilities

• Observe and treat post-operative patients from various service lines.
• Maintain a nursing to patient ratio of 1 to 2 in the PACU.
• Participate in required call shifts, including overnight and holiday shifts.
• Administer care in accordance with established protocols and standards.
