About The Position

ABOUT THE MOAKLEY PACU SAME DAY SURGERY CENTER AT BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER: The Ambulatory Surgery Center's PACU consists of 12 permanent bays with 3 additional swing bays that are uniquely designed with the patient in mind. These bays are setup for the preoperative patient, and Intensive Care Monitoring for the postoperative patient. The design of the PACU is set up in a way to allow quick movement into and out of the operating suites. POSITION SUMMARY: As an RN in the Moakley PACU you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care to both adult and pediatric patients. Using a patient-centered care model you will be elevated by a supportive nursing organization.

Requirements

  • Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years of RN experience preferred
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification required in certain units
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
  • Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Physical ability to meet job responsibilities
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Fluency in another language a plus
  • NursingPeriop Critical Care (PACU/ED/ICU) experience required

Nice To Haves

  • Current and/or previous PACU experience strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care in the Perioperative Services unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients
  • Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families
  • Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues
  • Update and manage patient records
  • Enter and interpret computerized data/information
  • Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization
  • Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects
