Occasional call required.

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing
• Current nursing Assessment and patient care skills
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Ability to master new skills
• Basic computer skills
• Texas license as a Registered Nurse
• Certified in Basic Life Support, and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• One year experience as a RN in a hospital or outpatient environment

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Through knowledge of all phases of perioperative care
• Meditech experience
• Certified in Perianesthesia Nursing (CPAN)
• Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA)
• One year or more experience in a hospital Post Anesthesia Care Unit or Critical Care Area Experience

Responsibilities

• Performs holistic assessment throughout the Pre-Op and Post-Op period while following all ASPAN nursing standards and practice recommendations.
• Communicates all pertinent findings with other members of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates understanding of the procedure performed, and documents appropriate assessments, and interventions throughout the Perioperative period.
• Competent to respond to life threatening complications during the recovery period.
• Educates patients and family as what to expect during their procedure and the recovery period.
