About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our growing pulmonary practice. This role combines traditional clinical nursing responsibilities with a specialized focus on lung health, including lung cancer screening coordination and advanced pulmonary procedure navigation (e.g., endobronchial valve therapy). The ideal candidate is highly organized, patient-focused, and comfortable managing both clinical care and care coordination for patients with complex respiratory conditions. Assesses and cares for patients under the direction of Provider. Supervises care of licensed practical nurses and medical assistants in the office setting. Provides patient assessment in an ongoing and efficient manner focusing on the patient, including physical, behavioral and cognitive needs. Determines patient's care history, including test results, hospitalizations, ED case, urgent care, community care, and referrals to consultants. Performs accurate triage and assessment of patient problems, prioritizes care and recognizes changes in patient status. Keeps provider informed of changes in plan of care. Implements an established plan of care in a knowledgeable, skillful and consistent manner. Carries out physician preapproved standing orders so that efficient and effective care is rendered Is responsible for maintaining clean, orderly drug sample cabinets if applicable, containing only drugs with current expiration dates, by documenting on monthly sample cabinet check sheet. Performs all aspects of universal precautions when in patient care and maintains current Infection Control Certification as required by New York State (not a requirement for nurses practicing in Pennsylvania).

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved RN program with current New York State licensure.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous nursing experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Excellent communication and writing ability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in an outpatient pulmonary setting
  • Perform patient rooming, including vital signs, medical history updates, and medication reconciliation
  • Assist physicians with examinations and in-office procedures
  • Administer medications, injections, and vaccines in accordance with clinical protocols
  • Conduct patient triage (in-person and via phone), assessing symptoms and prioritizing care needs
  • Educate patients and families on pulmonary conditions, treatments, and care plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Coordinate and track lung cancer screening programs (e.g., low-dose CT scans)
  • Identify eligible patients and ensure appropriate screening follow-up
  • Serve as a patient navigator for individuals undergoing lung cancer screening
  • Track abnormal findings and ensure timely diagnostic follow-up and referrals
  • Coordinate care for patients undergoing advanced pulmonary procedures, including endobronchial valve placement
  • Collaborate with physicians, radiology departments, and external providers to streamline patient care
  • Monitor patient progress and ensure adherence to treatment and follow-up plans
  • Manage patient communication, including test results and care instructions
  • Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance coordination related to pulmonary services
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and compliance with clinical guidelines
  • Maintain inventory of clinical supplies and vaccines
