About The Position

The Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) position at Texas Children's Outpatient Cancer/Infusion clinic involves providing direct and telephone nursing care, health teaching, patient advocacy, and coordination of care for patients in a fast-paced environment. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or an Associate's Degree in Nursing with enrollment in a BSN program.
• Current enrollment in a nursing bridge program working toward an MSN.
• Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• 1 year of professional nursing experience.
• Knowledge of nursing functions, basic anatomy and physiology, and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to demonstrate and perform generic and unit-based/critical competencies.
• Hematology/Oncology experience.

Nice To Haves

• Chemo/Bio provider certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and telephone nursing care to patients.
• Conduct evidence-based assessments and complex interviews to collect pertinent patient data.
• Develop and continuously update individualized care plans for patients.
• Prioritize interventions and implement care plans in partnership with patients and families.
• Conduct reevaluations and follow-ups based on patient needs and conditions.
• Incorporate family and caregiver understanding into the care plan.
• Revise diagnoses and expected outcomes based on ongoing reassessment data.
• Demonstrate patient advocacy in response to care issues.
