About The Position

The Registered Nurse position at the Outpatient GYN Clinic within the Department of Veterans Affairs North Texas Health Care System is responsible for managing complex outpatient care. The role emphasizes patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, and self-management post-discharge. The RN will collaborate on policy development, provide leadership, and ensure quality nursing care while fostering a supportive environment for professional development.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must have a full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State or territory.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing is required.
  • Proficiency in basic written and spoken English is mandatory.
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of GYN experience.
  • At least 3 years of invasive procedure experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working within the VA system.

Responsibilities

  • Execute position responsibilities demonstrating leadership and creative approaches to outpatient care management.
  • Coordinate care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care.
  • Educate patients and families on self-management after discharge.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies and procedures.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers for improvement.
  • Support colleagues through knowledge sharing to ensure safe, quality outpatient nursing care.
  • Evaluate outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals and groups.
