About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Outpatient Dialysis at Mayo Clinic plays a crucial role in providing individualized patient care within a dynamic team environment. This position involves coordinating nursing care, educating patients and families, and supporting transitions of care while adhering to the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model. The RN will float between various dialysis locations based on staffing needs, ensuring high-quality care and effective communication throughout the nursing process.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ACEN, CCNE, NLN CNEA).
  • At least one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of LPN experience at Mayo Clinic if graduated from a non-accredited program.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations and work flexible hours.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver's License and have BCLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in outpatient dialysis or similar settings.
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nursing care for patients in outpatient dialysis settings.
  • Provide direct patient care and educate patients and families about their treatment.
  • Support transitions of care and ensure continuity of care across practice settings.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating nursing care phases.
  • Serve as a preceptor and engage in informal leadership roles and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care based on skill level, experience, patient acuity, and resource availability.
  • Participate in committees or projects as needed.
