IU Health Methodist's 4S Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Unit is a highly specialized, 29-bed medical surgical unit. 4S team members are trained in the care of patients presenting with a variety of orthopedic traumas, including, but not limited to, motor vehicle/motorcycle trauma, falls, crush injuries, joint repairs and replacements, and thoracolumbar surgeries. Requirements

  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Office (CNO)
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
